Delayed fantasy scoring

Published on:

In most cases, fantasy points are updated in real time. However, there may be situations where we do not receive complete statistics from our data partners immediately due to circumstances beyond our control. This article explains how these situations are handled. It also outlines what delayed scoring means for you as a participant.

What is Delayed Scoring?

Delayed scoring occurs when FanYield does not receive the complete set of player statistics from our data partner in real time. This can happen for various reasons, such as technical issues, data transmission delays, or weather conditions at stadiums.

Impact on Tournament Scoring

If we do not receive the full player statistics before the tournament scoring is finalized, only the data available at that time will be used to calculate the final fantasy points for that player. This means that the final score may be based on a limited dataset, which can potentially affect the outcome of the fantasy tournament.

❄️ Example: Match Did Not Take Place (e.g., Due to Weather)

Example: The match between Slovácko and Sparta was postponed due to heavy snowfall.
In such cases, the tournament will be finalized without including performances from the postponed match – affected players will receive 0 fantasy points.

🌧️ Example: Match Played, But No Data Received

Example: The match was played, but due to extreme weather (e.g., snow), our data provider was unable to process and deliver fantasy events in time.
In this case, we typically extend the duration of the tournament by 24–48 hours to allow the data to be delivered.
Once the data arrives, the tournament will be evaluated, and fantasy points for players from that match will be added accordingly.
