I own a player, but I can't add him to my lineup

Published on:

If you're having trouble adding a player to your lineup on FanYield, there could be a few reasons why. Here's a quick overview to help you understand what's going on.

🧠 Understanding Fantasy

Fantasy on the FanYield platform is a game where you build squads using player cards you own. You strategically select players to maximize your fantasy points, which are based on real-life match performances.

However, there are a few rules and restrictions you should be aware of.

🧑‍💼 Which players can I use in my fantasy lineup?

Eligible players per tournament:
Each tournament has a specific timeframe and a set of eligible players.
For example, if a tournament only includes Saturday matches, you can only select players whose teams play on that Saturday.

Example:
If Saturday’s only matches are England vs Netherlands and Germany vs France, only players from those four teams will be eligible for that tournament. Players from other teams cannot be selected.

🌀 Can I use the same player in multiple tournaments?

One tournament at a time per card:
Each player card can only be used in one tournament at a time.

Example:
If you own 6 cards of the same player, and one tournament requires 1 card per lineup spot while another requires 5 cards per player, you can enter both tournaments only if you meet the card requirements for each.

✅ Steps to resolve issues with adding a player to your lineup

1. Check the player’s eligibility:

  • Make sure the player you’re trying to select is eligible for the tournament.
  • Review the fixture list and confirm that their team is playing in the tournament’s match window.

2. Review tournament rules:

  • Some tournaments may require multiple copies of a player card (e.g., 3 cards for 1 spot).
  • Check the specific card requirements listed in the tournament rules.

3. Check your available player cards:

  • Confirm you have enough player cards in your portfolio to meet the lineup formation.
  • For example, if the formation requires 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, and 1 forward, make sure you have eligible players for each role.
  • If you're short on unique cards, you can use the loan feature to fill gaps.

4. One player, one lineup rule:

  • You cannot use the same player more than once in a single tournament.
  • For instance, if your lineup has two midfield slots, you cannot place Lamine Yamal twice — each slot must be filled by a different player.
